DREAMING – CD – 2000 -Available

Dreaming was released 2000 featuring Helena’s favourite covers such as the jazzy rendition of the song Autumn Leaves and South African hits such as Mannetjies Roux, Koos du Plessis’s Sprokie vir‘n Stadskind and Mama of Antjie Krog, among others featuring the Magaliesberg Children’s Choir established by celebrated choir mistress, Hannelie van Sittert and renowned pianist Alwyn van Heerden. Other timeless songs featured are the title folk song Dreaming by Amanda McBroom (who wrote The Rose) Handel’s Gloria Eterna, Listen to the Falling Rain, North Country Maid by SA songwriter, Teresa Hely- Hutchinson, Continental hits such as Brel’s Sons of the Sons and Mariek as well as Cent Mille Chansons in French and Duizend Keer, in Dutch. Dreaming had a strong classical feeling featuring top SA musicians. Alwyn van Heerden was the arranger and pianist on all tracks and featured Wolfgang Jacobs (cello), Evert van Niekerk (violin) and Stef Kruger (drums) among others. A bonus track featured Jan Hettema (her dad) singing Just a Gigolo, a Louis Prima hit when he cycled in Europe. It was voted by Beeld among the Top 4 best releases in 2000 amongst those by artists such as Coenie de Villiers, Laurika Rauch and Amanda Strydom.
