HEX'S WITCH RIVER-LAMENT

Her beauty "twas beyond compare, suitors came to see her raven hair,
but chose she him, with the lion's heart, to pick the flower rare,
that would win him the gateway to her heart

Strode he the mountain majestic in, bitter, bitter cold for with her he wanted to grow old,
and at last came he upon a brooklet flowing free and within the flower rare budding on a tree so bare

Elijah reached with feverish fingertips, just out of reach the flower for his love to pick, but he leant too far and yonder far below as he fell she heard her name echoing in the valley far below

chorus

Oh Elijah, Elijah - calls the Hex's witch
I understand her pain,, her madness and the blame
of a love so true, which would never come again

sub chorus

On a window engraved the symbol of his love
in her heart its flower frozen with all her love

And the decades passed and her hair grew grey but her eyes, green eyes never turned away,
from the footpath down the mountain which would bring him to her again

And she locked herself and her madness far, far away, but her eyes, green eyes never turned away and one
silvery night, by the light of the moon, she swan the stream to the flower of her dream

And she picked the flower, the flower for her love and the water washed over her from above

(repeat chorus and sub chorus)
Oh Elijah, Elijah, Elijah
