HELENA HETTEMA HIGHLIGHTS -’98 -AVAILABLE

Highlights feature 21 tracks of which nine are original songs written by Hettema covering social commentary themes, poverty and rebirth and preservation of the earth in songs like Fool’s Gold, Touch of Green (in English, Afrikaans, isiZulu and Sesotho), Papermen – political comment and Hex’s Witch River Lament, a song that tells the riveting story of the witch of the Hex River Valley, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow about leaving childhood behind. Highlights feature the timeless Autumn Leaves, Sons of the Sons and Marieke by Brel as well as Sonkring, the theme song of the TV series for which she sang and wrote the lyrics.

SABC 2 also made videos of Fool’s Gold and Touch of Green. Highlights a compilation CD, Helena’s third after Fool’s Gold and Jasmine Lament, was nominated for a South African Music Award (SAMA) at an event held at Sun City and received critical acclaim in the press.
